With engine overhaul it is important that all moving parts are fitted with assembly paste, this prevents premature wear within the first turning minutes.
Many still use engine oil for this, a wrong choice, oil is thin and does not stay in place, hence not suitable during the overhaul work, mounting paste on the other hand and protects all parts during the first turning minutes. Certainly with the bearing work, camshaft and cam followers, this is essential
After the engine has been run in (15 minutes on 2000 rpm is the rule) the mounting paste will be washed away by the engine oil after which the engine oil will take over this task, in the meantime the mounting paste has done its work with minimal wear, something you will not achieve with engine oil.
In short, assembly paste should be standard in your tool trolley, just like lithium grease.
Comes in a tube of 7 grams, which is sufficient for the camshaft and cam followers, take a second tube for the remaining bearings.
